Embed Code

You can now embed voovees parodies on your own blogs! Yay!

Much like how you would use YouTube’s embeding code, you just click in the ‘Embed Code’ textbox, copy the text, and paste it in your own blog, and that will do it!

There may still be some issues with this feature, but we think it’s mature enough that you guys can play with it. Right now it might be a little flaky with a few WYSIWYG editors that comes with blogging systems (I’m experiencing it on WordPress), that toggling between ‘Visual’ mode and ‘HTML’ mode will change the embedding text, so make sure that you do the embedding inside ‘HTML’ view right before you post. Also, right now the embedding always happens at 640 by 360 (YouTube’s HiRes format size), we may have more options later on.We’ll try our best to iron out these issues. If you have any thoughts about these let us know by leaving a comment below.

But otherwise, embed to your heart’s content!

Most viewed award – Accident by pearlpower, came out of no where to grab the top spot with 138 views by the end of the competition, likely good promotion work in the background.

Highest rated award – My God You’re Gorgeous by redoptick, who had a +3 rating by the end of competition, actually just edging out I am what I am by elmo, who also had a +3 rating but a slightly lower view count.

Unfortunately we had to disqualify quite a few entries, generally because of non-compliance with voovees.com’s Terms of Use, which was unfortunate.

The winners will be notified by email, congratulations once again, to the winners of the competition!

Parody creation now with description enabled

You can now optionally add descriptions to the parodies that you’ve made during creation time, and have it displayed when everyone look at your parody.

Now I’m the first to admit that I’m not much of a marketer, still being very ‘green’ about this ‘marketing’ thing, so I see this very much as an experiment in getting some exposure out there. If there are any tips you guys want to share about how to get more people participating, it will be great to leave us some comments in the comments section.

Our goal is have 600 new registered users posting one or more new parodies on Voovees.com by the end of this competition 48 hour period, if that sounds unrealistic for a site that just came out into the public in mere weeks, then you sure understand the sort of challenge that we are up against in reaching our goal.

However, internet is nothing if not collaborative, and I truly believe in this medium of communication to be able to bring people together. We have a Voovees’s page of Facebook now, anyone who’s interested in what’s happening should join.

Oh, also, I get asked if we are too attached to Twilight now, well, I would say that we plan to make a variety of topical animations for people to parody, twilight is just what we’re using as a starting tool right now, there will definitely be more of other things coming up. If not wanting to be too twilight-ty is stopping you for entering, rest assure that if you do win, there are non-twilight related prizes in our prizes section, not to mention we’re actually quite happy to change the prize to something of equal value upon request after your win, so you know, as they say, ‘forget about it!’

I didn’t realise it was true until I read everyone’s messages posted on your facebook page.

Deep thoughts.

I remember when in high school, when I first joined the Christchurch Youth Choir and then Male Voice, I was very shy, but you were there to help me through the ropes. We always stood next to each other since we were the two guys with the lowest voices, in just about all the choirs that we were in. We even used to compete who could sing lower on the day, and not realise everyone around were staring.

That was not so long ago, not nearly long enough that I should be missing you.

You were always the happiest person in any group, with that crazy laugh of yours. I remember a friend said this about you: “In a big empty hall with a school bag dropped on a random place on the floor, when he enters and starts walking around, he WILL trip over that bag by accident.” Few days later I actually DID witness this, it was the funniest thing that I ever saw. You were one of the funniest person I know, intentional or not.

I really regret having to use past tenses for the sentences that I wrote. I felt even worse that I only found this out this late.

Indeed, I am SURE I will never meet another person like you. I have never heard anyone say ANYTHING bad about you. All round amazing people like you are one of a kind. Your great kind heart, your enthusiasm about all things, your passion and your sheer musical talent, I will never forget.

As I remember the songs that we used to sing, “Ave Maria”, “Goodbye, my coney island baby”, “O Danny Boy” this blog entry is getting harder and harder to write.

I miss you, my dear old friend. It is my greatest honor and pleasure to be able to call myself your friend.

My heart goes to you, your family and your newly wedded wife Laura, this is a great tragedy.
